Visit of Secretary (East) to Malaysia (March 18-20 2015)

Shri Anil Wadhwa, Secretary (East), Ministry of External Affairs of India paid an official visit to Malaysia on March 18 – 20, 2015 in connection with the Festival of India in Malaysia 2015 as well as to meet senior officials in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia.

Secretary (East) met His Excellency Dato’ Hamzah Zainudin, Deputy Foreign Minister of Malaysia on 18 March 2015 wherein they had an opportunity to review some important aspects of our relations, including the forthcoming Joint Commission Meeting, political and defence relations, health and education, etc. The Deputy Foreign Minister conveyed the readiness of Malaysia to further expand the scope and depth of India-Malaysia bilateral relations.

Secretary (East) also called on Datuk Sri G. Palanivel, Minister for Natural Resources and Environment of Malaysia and President of the Malaysian Indian Congress.

In the evening, Secretary (East) addressed a gathering of CEOs of major Malaysian companies, think-tanks, senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, academicians, CEOs of Indian companies in Malaysia etc and exchanged views on a range of bilateral as well as ASEAN related issues and about India's Act East policy.

On 19 March, Secretary (East) met his counterpart, His Excellency Dato’ Ramlan Ibrahim, Deputy Secretary General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They held detailed discussions on the entire gamut of India-Malaysia bilateral matters and follow-up to the Foreign Office Consultations between the two countries held earlier in January this year.‎

Secretary (East) was Chief Guest at the Bharatanatyam dance performance by Padma Bhushan Smt. Alarmel Valli, held as a part of the Festival of India in Malaysia 2015 on 19 March in Kuala Lumpur.
