The year 2022 has been declared as the ASEAN-India Friendship year, as ASEAN and India commemorate 30 years of partnership. A series of events has been planned and organized, to celebrate the occasion throughout the year by Indian Mission to ASEAN in Jakarta. In this series of events, Indian Mission to ASEAN in collaboration with the local organization indoindians.com organized ASEAN-India Diwali Bazaar in Jakarta on Sunday, 09 October, 2022. The daylong event, held at the Ball Room of Hotel Westin, started at 1000 hrs and lasted till 2000 hrs. H.E. Mr. Satvinder Singh, Deputy Secretary General for ASEAN Economic Community was the Chief Guest of the event.

The event was formally inaugurated by H.E. Mr. Satvinder Singh, DSG-ASEAN, Shri Jayant N. Khobragade, Ambassador of India to ASEAN, H.E. Ms. Kok Li Peng, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Singapore to ASEAN and Country Coordinator for India, and Ms. Poonam Sagar, M/s Indo-Indians by lighting of lamp ceremony. In addition to the Ambassadors of 10 ASEAN Member States and its dialogue partners, several other prominent diplomatic ranks, officials of the ASEAN Secretariat, business community, prominent personalities and general public both from India and ASEAN Members States (AMS) participated in the event with great enthusiasm.

Each ASEAN Member State, ASEAN Secretariat and Indian Missions in Jakarta put up their stalls. Handicrafts, artefacts, business and tourism promotion related material were displayed there. The videos and publicity material displayed at the venue showcased India a destination of choice for investment, education, tourism, wildlife, medical tourism, heritage and for its rich culinary.

More than 120 stalls were put up during the event by business community and MSMEs of ASEAN Member States and India. Various products for lifestyle, beauty, jewelry, fashion accessories, ethnic wear, home decor, food and beverages, education, banking (Bank of India), handicrafts, paintings, Indian spices & grocery, health etc. were available for various buyers and sellers under one roof.

Cultural activities including Bollywood dance, local dance, and other dance forms were also among the main attractions of the event.

The event provided opportunity to MSMEs of various fields from ASEAN Members States and India to showcase, promote and sell their products and services under one roof, which witnessed more than 1000 foot falls, was well appreciated by one and all.
